About
InterAct
Internews Interactive,
a non-profit pioneer of digital media convergence,
has been integrating broadband with broadcasting since
1998. InterAct draws on a 20-year history of
award-winning interactive television productions that
have linked people to each other, to their leaders
and to the world. InterAct specializes in “2wayTV,”
interfacing broadcast television with digital video
media including satellites, videoconferencing, webcams
and photo cell-phones, with the goal of creating a
space where “the people” join the politicians
and pundits who shape America’s public policy.
In InterAct productions, the television
studio becomes a nexus of connectivity, as a virtual
audience of participants join our programs. InterAct
has used ‘war-cams,’ on-line videochat
rooms, internet cafes, and university videoconference
networks as well as webcams, videomail and cellphones
to connect people from within their own community
to the power of television. Programs link restaurants,
schools, living rooms, and jail cells, to broadcast-quality
television programs, and to a nation of curious viewers
who are invited to call and ask questions, and to
appear on TV.
Today, we are using our expertise
in new ways:
•
Public Square - consulting with
PBS on the interactive design
for its new service.
• RedBlue - helping divided
Americans get beyond their differences
by connecting directly with each
other on the Internet.
• Citizen Diplomacy Archive
- providing scholars with a record of
US-USSR citizen outreach that helped
end the Cold War.
• THANK$ A MILLION –
Reality TV that rewards social responsibility.
• Everybody’s Guide
- fostering dignity for all. |
The
pages of this site cover our history, keep you up
to date on new developments, and glimpse the future
of digital media.
